Bruna Elena lives in Reggio Emilia and works as a pedagogista for the Municipal infant   toddler centres and preschools. She has a PhD in pedagogy and this has given sense and meaning to her own professionalism in the continuous dialogue and exchange with different educational experiences at national and international level. Elena also       coordinates the Remida Creative Recycling Centre.

Reggio Emilia Study Tour

11 – 15th April 2011

Reggio Emilia Aotearoa New Zealand (REANZ) is a Charitable Trust, and we are pleased to provide information for you about the April 2011 study tour to Reggio Emilia. Wendy Larmer will be leading the group. Wendy has been inspired by the pedagogy of Reggio Emilia for more than ten years, supporting teachers and Early Childhood Centres who also are inspired by Reggio Emilia. Prue Crarer will be supporting Wendy. Prue is Centre Manager of Early Learning Counties Manukau -Alfriston, Manurewa. Prue has a particular interest in the arts and a passion for assisting children’s thinking through the Hundred Languages. Prue’s centre exempifies her passion for excellence in the environment as the third teacher.

Footsteps in Aotearoa New Zealand and moments of joy at Sophia preschool.

Fran Paniora and I visited Sophia Preschool recently. A small centre situated in the seaside village of Oakura, 20 minutes from New Plymouth. After being in contact with Adrienne, who set the centre up with her husband Ian, off and on now for over 3 years, I was unsure of what was waiting for us. Our emails had certainly tantalised my thinking about what might be… with stories of investigations, worries, questions and the never ending niggles of ‘are we on the right track?’.

How wonderful it was to be in Adelaide, Australia for the fifth biennial REAIE ‘landscapes’ conference.  This was an opportunity to rekindle and deepen existing relationships with the community of Australian friends.  It also gave us an opportunity to make new friends with the two keynote speakers from Reggio Emilia, Elena Giacopini and Ivana Soncini.  They are both very keen to come to New   Zealand in the future.
