This study tour focusses on providing participants with opportunities to experience a wide range of educational programmes. An important aspect of the tour is that teachers get time to reflect on their own practice and engage in conversations with others to make meaning around philosophy and pedagogy.

The focus of this tour will be of particular interest to teachers of children aged 2 and a half to six (we only visit one infant toddler room)

    Study Tour Activities may include……..

¨presentations about the pedagogy of Reggio Emilia accompanied by visits to centres to see how this way of working with children has been interpreted.

¨There will be centre visits”

¨Time to discuss the ideas you hear and the practices you see”

¨Other opportunities can include shopping at IKEA, visiting the Children’s garden, the farm and the museum… and of course shopping”.

The current cost of the study tour is $1990.00. This covers airfares ex Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, Group airport transfers, travel insurance, accommodation at a centrally located apartment (share twin – three in an apartment), transport between study tour venues, and all study tour expenses.

To put your name on the waiting list please email chris.bayes@xtra.co.nz;

Times magazine, Jerome Bruno and Howard Gardner have all said that the educational opportunities that are offered by schools in Reggio Emilia are amongst the best in the world. To really understand how these infant toddler centres and preschools exist, one needs to see them for oneself. Join us for an experience that will inspire you to think more deeply about teaching and learning in your setting in Aotearoa New Zealand.

We will have opportunities to reflect on:

The cultural context of Reggio Emilia

The image of the child and the teacher

The environment as third teacher

The pedagogy of listening

Making learning visible through documentation

The role of the pedagogista and your role as a professional leader

And so much more…
